Gainesville, FL

twilight_melody
On the off chance that people still lurk out there I thought I would advertise our HUUUUUGE garage sale :)

Saturday the 5th from 7am-1pm. Please no early arrivals. We aren't morning people and having everything ready by 7 is already stretching the powers of caffeine :)

Address is:

9625 SW 19th AVE, Gainesville, FL 32607. Just follow the signs, 19th ave is off 91st street just north of the Haile publix.

We will have a little bit of everything. All three of us kids are out of the house and my mom has had it with storing all the stuff. Additionally my husband and I just got done with a move and are bringing things to get rid of as well.

Highlights include:

Easter decorations and supplies
Home goods
Collectables of various nature
Really something from just about every room of the place!

There will also be pastries and snacks for sale to help with the early morning energy needs :)

We haven't finished sorting things out yet and already we've taken up two rooms in the house and the garage. Come help us clear out :) Feel free to comment with any and all questions. Have a great week everyone!!!

Apartment Hunting in Gainesville [Feb. 12th, 2014|11:04 am]
Gainesville, FL

Hello! I'm currently a UF student living with a roommate in Frederick Gardens. Our lease is up in October, and while I know that's ages away, I'm looking for a new place. Without roommates. I have a full-time (but low-paying) job lined up for when I graduate in the Summer, so I'm looking for a place that's $650 or less a month with a decent kitchen and at least some amenities included. Frederick Gardens seems to be one of the best I've found price-wise and with amenities (the 2/1 I'm in right now is $580 with water and sewage included, total, that we split), but this model has a ridiculously small amount of kitchen counter space. (If it wasn't for the fact that there's no counter space, I'd try to get the same model. I think the 1/1's in FG run around $515 without any amenities, so I'd have more space and less bills for only $65 more a month.)

I've never had to pay for water, sewage, AND electric (so I'm assuming it's high), but I'll gladly accept any suggestions for a place with $525 or less a month, without roomies.

Are any of my expectations unrealistic?

Thank you so much for your help!

Found: Russian Blue Cat [Nov. 5th, 2012|03:35 pm]

russian blue cat

He just came strolling up to us a couple weeks back. Super friendly, notoriously exactly like the Russian Blue breed (acts like a dog), always wants to come in, so it makes me think he's someone's missing cat. I really hope someone didn't dump him, but my roommie is already wanting to keep him, so I wanted to doubly make sure his owners aren't out there looking for him.

scrap metal in Gainesville? [Jun. 28th, 2012|03:15 pm]
Gainesville, FL

need_wheels
Does anyone know the deal with selling scrap metal in Gainesville? I have a few hundred pounds of old lead batteries (not car batteries) and the price quotes I am getting from a couple places off Waldo Road are a joke compared to the average national buying price? Do I have to haul this junk to a bigger city?

hey homebrewers i need some help! [Jun. 16th, 2012|08:45 am]
Gainesville, FL

twilight_melody
[mood |thirstythirsty]

I'm really hoping that there are some people in the community who home brew. After two successful batches from kits (thanks to the lovely people at Brock's home brewing) we're anxious to try out recipes that aren't in kit form. I was told to check out the brew supply place on newberry rd next to grandy's. Has anyone been there? How's the selection and the customer service?

And is there another place you might suggest in or near gainesville? I want to stay away from the internet for the first couple of recipes. I've found tons of recipes online but we're still learning the method of brewing. And after seeing how different each beer we made was to prepare i would really like a live person to talk to while we gather supplies.

Thanks a ton!!! Hope everyone has a great weekend :)
